Dear Community Member,

After thoughtful consideration, Pine Tree Society has made the difficult decision to permanently close its Audiology practice effective November 1, 2026. We understand the importance of continuity of care and are committed to communicating clearly and supporting patients and families through this transition.

To support continuity of care, current patients should take the following steps:

• Medical records: To request a copy of your audiology records or authorize their transfer to a new provider, email audiology@pinetreesociety.org or call 207-386-5920. Please allow 30 calendar days for processing. We will reach out to you to verify your identity and send you an Authorization For Release Of Information which will need to be completed to release your records to another provider.

• Finding a new provider: A list of area audiology practices and other referral resources is available for viewing and downloading HERE. Patients should confirm participation, coverage, and referral requirements directly with their health insurance plan and chosen provider.

• Hearing aids and assistive devices: For questions about warranties, repairs, earmolds, batteries, programming, or supplies, contact your insurance company and hearing aid manufacturer to determine which provider you can move your services too. Manufacturer warranty terms will continue to apply. A list of insurers and manufacturers can be view and downloaded HERE.

• BIW client: If you are a client provided treatment under BIW’s Worker’s Compensation Program, please contact BIW at 207-442-1710 to get assistance finding a new provider.

This decision reflects a strategic focus on the programs where Pine Tree Society can have the greatest mission impact and build a sustainable future. By concentrating our people and resources in other areas of programming, we can strengthen services, respond to evolving community needs, and expand opportunities for people with disabilities to live with greater independence and connection.

While our Audiology practice is closing, Pine Tree Society’s commitment to Maine people with disabilities and their families remains strong. We will continue investing in mission-driven programs that reflect our values of positivity, creativity, collaboration, and community and that position the organization to make a meaningful difference for years to come.

We are deeply grateful to the patients, families, employees, providers, and community partners who have placed their trust in the Audiology practice. We are especially thankful to the Audiology team for its expertise, compassion, and dedicated service.
