Born with Spina Bifida, Enock Glidden always loved the outdoors. That love grew into a true passion during his first summer at Pine Tree Camp 38 years ago.
“I was seven years old at the time and Pine Tree Camp really opened my eyes to what was possible. It broadened my horizons to new experiences and set me on the path to be who I am.”
We often talk about helping people with disabilities discover lives of passion and purpose. That’s Enock’s story.
Today, Enock is an athlete, adventurer, motivational speaker and advocate. He’s a role model and inspiration for others. And he remains connected to the friends he made as a child at Pine Tree Camp.
It’s easy to see the immediate impact of Pine Tree Society’s programs – an adult in Community Support gaining independence by learning to cook, a child in our Early Learning Center making a new friend or a teen finding her voice with Assistive Technology. What we often don’t see is the long-term, transformational, life changing impact of our work. That’s why I wanted to share Enock’s story – a story that began with you, our donor.
Please know your investment today pays dividends in the future.
You make stories like Enock’s a reality. We cannot do it without you. The funding Pine Tree Society receives through reimbursement for services only covers a fraction of our expenses. Families caring for loved ones with disabilities have fewer and fewer resources to turn to for help. We need your help to fulfill the promise of our mission – a mission that has been in place since 1936.
Your donation will be put right to work to immediately impact the lives of Maine children and adults with disabilities and their families. We cannot do it without you. Together, we transform lives.
