Pine Tree Society Board Spotlight: Deb Reinemann

When asked what feels particularly meaningful about Pine Tree Society’s 90-year milestone, she said “I am so excited by our current work and direction. I hope that we can continue to direct our focus to the mission to support people in Maine as we celebrate this 90-year accomplishment.”
A Conversation with Deb Reinemann
When did you join the Pine Tree Society Board, and what drew you to its mission? I joined the Board of Directors three years ago. Pine Tree Society provides strong resources to a community which needs a wide array of support. I saw great potential to grow and refine our work to be a role model organization.
Do you serve on any committees? If so, which ones? I previously served on the Program Committee; this year I am serving on the Nominating & Governance Committee.
Why did you choose to focus on those particular committees? I have a connection with Programming, and as an opportunity to expand my knowledge and expertise, I moved to Nominating & Governance this year.
What unique perspective do you bring to the board? As a lifelong educator and advocate for inclusion in academic spaces, I bring the perspective from the background of working in the school system and some personal connections to living with disabilities. My family history allows me to see firsthand how the world is different, and often unnecessarily difficult, for individuals with disabilities.
Where do you work, and what is your job title? I work as the Principal of Chickering Elementary School in Dover, Massachusetts.
What is meaningful to you about Pine Tree Society? What is meaningful to me about Pine Tree Society is the organization’s deep commitment to advocating for individuals with disabilities and ensuring they have equitable opportunities to thrive. I value the organization’s focus on creating pathways for access, independence, and success that empower children, adults, and families to build fulfilling lives and reach their full potential.
