On Thursday, June 1 at The Woodshed, local musician Jason McClure will debut his original song inspired by the story of his friend Scotty Wentzell. Scotty is the real person behind the new book A Dog and His Boy: The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty. This touching story is based on true events about a developmentally disabled boy named Scotty and his life-sized stuffed dog named Spillway.

Scotty and Spillway will be there to greet fans. Scotty’s mom and co-writer Heidi Bullen will read from the book and share more about Scotty’s life growing up here in Maine. The book will be available for purchase.

Scotty is a long-time Pine Tree Camper and this appearance and public song debut are part of an evening to support Pine Tree Camp. Attendees will also have the chance to experience a live TV telethon broadcast with WABI TV5, catch the first annual Hammond Lumber Cornhole for a Cause tournament and listen to live music with Jason McClure and special guests. Local food and beverages served up by The Woodshed will be available for purchase.

Proceeds raised from this event will support Pine Tree Camps tuition fund for Maine kids and adults with disabilities to have the experience of a lifetime this summer at camp. Full tuition assistance is available and, since 1945, no camper has ever been turned away due to their ability to pay.
