This summer we’re making a splash at Pine Tree Camp with our annual adaptive Watersports Weekend offered Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23 from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day. Registration is required and financial assistance is available. Register at this link.
Thanks to our friends at Equip for Living Foundation and Leap of Faith Adaptive Skiers, kids and adults of all abilities will have the chance to waterski on North Pond. From being seated or standing up with adaptive gear, everyone will have the chance to hold the tow rope and ski behind the boat.
The waterfront will be open for swimming, boating and kayak trips. Archery, sports courts, biking and hiking will also be available.
This experience is open to people with disabilities and their families or caregivers. Participants are invited to sign up for one or both days.
The watersports experience might be just one weekend, but the sense of freedom and confidence campers gain by trying something new and doing more than they thought they could lasts a lifetime.
“It’s a great weekend,” said Pine Tree Camp director, Dawn Willard-Robinson. “So many people get to try waterskiing for the first time and it’s fun to see how quickly people progress in their confidence and skills during the day, perhaps staring with someone standing next to them, perhaps trying it all on their own.”
