Artwork that’s a first for Pine Tree Society

For the first time ever, this year, Pine Tree Society selected holiday card artwork created by a Pine Tree Camper. Sophia Wooten moved from Ohio to Maine with her family and fell in love with Pine Tree Camp and…moose!

“We don’t have moose in Ohio so it’s a real treat for us,” her mother, Jamie, said. “To us, moose symbolize Maine and, whenever we see one, we always snap a photo and send it to each other.”

When Sophia learned about the Pine Tree Society holiday card artwork contest, she knew just what she wanted to create. “Moose Lights” is her playful take on the holiday season. Colorful lights strung across the snow whimsically adorn the antlers of a gentle Maine moose.

“She is passionate about drawing and art plays a big role in her life,” Jamie continued. “She loves Pine Tree Camp, so this was very meaningful to her. She chose to enter her submission under the ‘Maine’ theme, and you just can’t get more ‘Maine’ than a moose.”

When they got the news that her art had been selected to be featured, it was a very special moment.

“To hear her excitement was so heartwarming. She was all smiles and said to her brother ‘I won the art thing.’ She was tickled about it.”
