Then & Now: Whitney Hynes
Pine Tree Camp’s 80th anniversary Then & Now spotlight series pairs past images with the present day as Pine Tree Campers strike a pose capturing the passage of time and the deep connection, intimate friendships and love of the special place they return to each summer. This month’s featured camper is Whitney Hynes.
Meet the Artist: Elaine Reed
Elaine Reed knew her artwork was a departure from Pine Tree Society’s typical holiday cards but she decided to submit it to the competition anyway. “I am so pleased they took a chance on something different,” she said. Her brother-in-law, Jimmy, loved Pine Tree Camp and her painting captures a special moonlit family memory the night before he passed away.
A Conversation with Liz Seal
For Liz Seal and her four children, Pine Tree Camp’s Dirigo Experience is more than a summer camp…it’s family. This specialized camp for Deaf and hard-of-hearing youth was founded by her husband, Joshua Seal, who was tragically killed two years ago in the Lewiston mass shooting. In her own words, she shares the impact of his legacy.
